When a Chart is just not Good Enough
Do you review countless spreadsheets each day? Is the information buried in them obvious? If not, there is a solution, there is a better way to view the data. Want to show areas where the population is growing, you could use a table but how about using a powerful visual?
How is this done? Simple, the data is displayed in a way that helps you see all the hidden nuances and trends. Turning data into information is the goal of most organizations. The first break-through in achieving this goal was producing charts from spreadsheets. Now comes the next leap forward, creating a picture from that spreadsheet data. To quote a well-known adage, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.
Pictures or in this case maps are the best way to display large, complex data sets in a way that allow the audience to see everything as an image or set of images. Expanding on that idea, this technique can be used to display different scenarios so it is possible to see how changes in the socioeconomic environment will affect the organization.
Most data has a geographic or location component associated with it, for example, an address provides a location on a street, and data on population density is related to a city, province or state. When you use location data to present information it is easily presented and understood.
The process is simple. Clients submit their data, latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates associated with each location are added (geocoded) and the data set is integrated with a base map of the appropriate area. Data analysis is now easy, the data can be displayed in different ways, overviews can be combined with detailed information. For example, a “snap shot ” of information from the state, province, county or township level can be included with the top-level country map. Data can be displayed using base maps created for clients’ unique requirements or standard maps from the database. The client chooses the final design and a custom map is created.
The result is no more guessing at what the data is representing, the hidden information is clear. These techniques allow the client to identify customer preferences, visualize population, environmental and economic changes and much more. The maps can be used to create briefing notes, marketing campaigns and graphics for websites. This is a cost-effective way to communicate complex ideas and display the information hidden in large, complicated data sets.
Using maps to tell the story will transform how you communicate with customers, senior management, in fact all of your stake-holders. Now you can take your data to a new level and display it in a new way, go from the two-dimensional view of your world using a chart, to a three-dimensional map. Display data the way you want to, identify trends and leave nothing to interpretation. Transform your data into information.
Flexible Above Ground Pools with Decorative Above Ground Pool Liners, Cool Pool Covers and Swimming Pool Liners
Above ground pools are flexible and less costly to install than in ground swimming pools. There is no excavation and the components can be assembled quickly. The key structural components of the pools are the frames and the vinyl above ground pool liners. The liners are stretched over the frames to form the pools. The swimming pool liners are the functional part of the system. They contain the water and are the decorative element. Pool covers are also important. They can extend the life of the pool and reduce the time needed to maintain the pool.
The choice of swimming pool liners depends of the design of the particular pool. The three types of liners available for above ground pools are; overlap liners, beaded liners and U/J bead liners. Overlap pool liners are pulled over the wall of the pool, rolled up onto the exterior of the pool and secured. The beaded liner tucks or snaps into a coping that is fastened over the pool wall. The U/J liner is attached directly to the top of the walls, like an upside down letter “U or J”. The liners are available in many patterns and are designed with UV inhibitors to protect them from the sun and harsh pool chemicals.
Pool covers are an important part of pool maintenance. There are different types, with different functions. Winter swimming pool covers are insulating and protect the swimming pool from debris and dirt. A mesh pool cover is a tightly woven scrim that allows only melting snow, rainwater and very fine silt to pass through. A leaf net pool cover prevents leaves from falling into the pool. The leaf net can be used with the winter pool cover and a solar pool cover for added protection. Solar pool covers or blankets are used to heat and maintain the temperature of the pool. All covers should be ordered three or four feet larger than the pool. For example if your pool is 24 feet round, the actual size of the cover will be 28 foot round.
Other pool accessories include water filtration systems and water pumps to move water into the filtration system. A water heater is a nice addition, it helps moderate the temperature of the water and extends the amount of weeks when it is comfortable to swim. Most pools come with a ladder for easy assess.
Above ground pools provide the same hours of pleasure as in ground pools. They are not however a permanent investment as the swimming pool liners usually last ten years. The selection of high quality above ground pool liners is important to extend the life of the pool and so is the appropriate use pool covers.
